Item # OSL-15  1960 Basketball Champions

In 1960, Ohio State University men's basketball team coached by Fred Taylor won the NCAA tournament.  Fred was voted basketball's Coach of the Year in 1961 and 1962.  Jerry Lucas was twice named the National College Player of the Year and was the only three-time choice as the Big Ten Player of the Year.  John Havlicek went on to become the fourth all-time leading scorer in the history of professional basketball.  Bobby Knight, a substitute on that team, went on to be a great coach at Indiana University.  All four members of these members of that team were selected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass.  All five of the starters on the team went on to play in the NBA.

In 1995, the entire 1960 team was recognized at a reunion banquet.  Artists for Athletes produced 600 of these prints as a tribute to this legendary team.  At this fund raising event, prints were sold for $40.00 each.  Since most of these prints were sold at this banquet, not too many of them ever reached the general public.

This 16 x 20 inch limited edition unmatted print is one of only 600 signed and numbered by the artist.  This particular print was authentically autographed in red sharpie not just by Fred Taylor, Jerry Lucas and John Havlicek.  The print was signed by all living members of the team, including players, coaches and even managers from the championship team with the exception of Bobby Knight.  It is estimated that under 50 prints were signed by all of  them.  This signed print has become a  rare piece because of Mr. Taylor's poor health, he has been unable to sign any autographs over the last few years.  This unique art print will attract quite a bit of attention as the focal point of your memorabilia collection.  This is also a great gift idea for a loved one or a unique auction item for a charity fundraising event.
